Funds Available through Licensure Grants
Program has been expanded to provide more funding for chapters in 2007.
ASLA is now accepting applications for the 2007 Licensure Grants. The program was created to provide financial assistance to states that are working to advance the goal of the ASLA 50 by 2010 Licensure Campaign: to promote and defend practice act licensure across the United States. The funding is available through matching grants for activities that will support advocacy initiatives that advance the national campaign goals. The application deadline is August 15, 2006.
The grant program was initiated in 2006, and $25,000 in matching grants were given out to chapters. This year, ASLA has increased the total pool of funds to $40,000 in anticipation of a strong set of applications. Chapters are permitted to submit applications for continuation of existing projects.
A jury consisting of members of the ASLA Licensure Committee, the Chapter Presidents’ Council, and the ASLA Finance Committee will determine the grant awards. Jury members are not permitted to deliberate on awards to their home chapter. Awards will be announced in October, and funds will be distributed to chapters at the start of the fiscal year in January 2007.
The application form and guidelines for the program are available on the Chapter Operations Workbook. For more information, contact Government Affairs Director Julia Lent.
