American Academy Opens Competition for Rome Prize
Fellowships offer emerging landscape architects a chance for intensive study among a community of artists and scholars.
The American Academy in Rome has begun soliciting invitations for its Rome Prize fellowships. The application deadline is November 1, 2006. One of the leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities, the academy offers up to 30 fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. For information and application materials, please visit the American Academy in Rome website.
Rome Prize winners reside at the academy's 11-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are $11,000 and stipends for 11-month fellowships are $22,000.
Rome Prize fellowships are designed for emerging artists and for scholars in the early or middle stages of their careers. The academy also offers a variety of opportunities for advanced scholars and artists. These include endowed residencies in the same fields as those in which the Rome Prize is awarded and a program for visiting artists and scholars.
