Native Plants for Public Space
Metropolitan Water District Headquarters
Thursday, November 8, 2007 - Friday, November 9, 2007
By invitation only. On Thursday, November 8th, 2007, the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council, with sponsorship from the Metropolitan Water District, will host a seminar for landscape architects and designers working in Southern California. To register go to: http://www.lasgrwc.org/LandscapeEthic/seminar/register.html The November 8th program will be similar to our very successful 2005-2006 design seminars. In addition to a day of engaging speakers, this year we will also be offering an optional field trip day to three case studies. On Friday, November 9th an optional field trip will take place where participants will visit three area sustainable landscapes in the downtown Los Angeles area. Space is limited and early registration is highly suggested. To contribute to landscape architects’ familiarity with the nuances of native plant landscapes we have developed a one-day comprehensive overview of current best design practices. Featuring well recognized experts, the seminars will cover a broad range of topics including site analysis, native plant palettes, contracting, maintenance manuals and much more. Space is limited to the first 50 respondents for the seminar and 25 respondents for the field trip. Each firm, agency or organization is invited to register up to two staff members. The seminar registration fee includes snacks, lunch and course materials. Seminar registrants will receive a copy of the Los Angeles River Master Plan Landscaping Guidelines ($32.50 value), as well as a copy of the recently published Care and Maintenance of Southern California Native Plant Gardens ($29.95 value). We hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our region’s sustainable landscapes and their design and management.
